Gratitude and Thanksgiving all year round!

November is one of my favorite months...and here's why...

My all-time favorite holiday is Thanksgiving!

I love Thanksgiving! This is because it is the day to celebrate family and the many wonderful traditions which are passed down through the generations. There is no gift exchange nor the expectations which seem to accompany the frenzied holiday season. For many people the season begins the day after Thanksgiving, typically known as Black Friday and for retailers, sometimes as early as August! When my mom was living, I would often call and ask for her recipe for turkey gravy or chat about what type of pie to make (or buy). Now I rely on my sister to remind me of the ingredients mom would use in our favorite family recipes!

Another tradition I enjoy on Thanksgiving weekend is calling my long distance friends and relatives. I love to catch up on their lives and share what is going on in my world.

In November, we remember our veterans on November 11th which is Veterans's Day. It's a special day that our country sets aside to honor and show our appreciation to all military personnel. This year my daughter, Laura and I were in San Diego on Veteran's day so we took a trolley and saw the USS Midway Museum which not only honors the legacy of those who have served America but is a resource for those in uniform today and is one of the top attractions in the city!

I'm excited that November is also National Family Caregivers Month. The theme for 2017 is "Caregivng Around the Clock" which so many caregivers do for their loved ones. What a good time to give thanks and show appreciation to all of the wonderful caregivers who often go unnoticed and appreciated. In my work with clients who have dementia or physical challenges, a skilled and trustworthy caregiver is essential!

Thanksgiving day is celebrated on November 23rd this year, but for me, giving thanks and gratitude continues all year long! I am truly grateful for the opportunity to serve my clients and their families every day. I am also very thankful for the knowledgeable and trustworthy referral partners including CPAs, estate attorneys, financial advisors and health care professionals who assist me in providing the highest level of service to my clients.

Wishing you and yours a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!
